Editing Services
My goal is to create clarity and confidence through improved writing skills. I will provide my feedback in the form of comments and suggestions. It is important for you to have autonomy over your work and make decisions about the final product. Throughout the editing process, I will never make direct edits to your work, but I will be available throughout the process for questions and discussion. Collaboration is key!
Book Coaching
How you tell your story matters and having the tools to succeed is essential to finding your voice. Receive advice and guidance at every stage of the writing process to prepare for publishing. From concept creation to final edits, this service allows you to have someone in your corner the whole time. Book Coaching includes consultation and collaboration in plot discussion, developmental editing, copy-editing and line editing, back of book blurbs, and book art consultation.
Developmental Editing
An in-depth look at the plot, character, and theme development. Editing includes careful attention to the sequence of events and character movements to ensure logical continuation of actions and themes. This service includes monitoring larger themes developing throughout the piece with suggestions for clarity, ideas for expansion, and feedback. Final deliverables will include in-text comments and a final editorial note detailing all findings and suggestions.
Line Editing and Copy Editing
A thorough examination of the grammar, punctuation, and syntax. Improve and understand your writing with thorough explanations of writing theory and patterns. Editing will be suggestions, color coded, within the document for changes in grammar, punctuation, and word choice.
Idea Consultation
Have an idea for a project, but don’t know where to start? Schedule a meeting to talk through your ideas and formulate a plan of action. You will leave with the beginnings of an outline and a direction to take your writing! We will schedule frequent meetings to talk through the next stages of your writing and to go through your work as you make your way to publication.
Combination Editing
This service combines all three basic services (Precision Beta Reading, Developmental Editing, and Copy/Line Editing) with an adjusted rate.
Precision Beta
Beta Reading with a bit extra! A complete read through of your work focusing on themes, plot, and overall writing composition. This will include suggestions for clarity, expansion of ideas, and positive feedback throughout the piece. The final deliverable will be an editorial note that details all of the findings and a comprehensive note of writing trends
Review and Rewrite
Reserved for shorter pieces. The only exception to making changes to the work directly as this service will be exactly as stated - I will review the piece and edit/rewrite where necessary.
Chapter Consultation
Take a deep dive into your syntax and pacing within a single chapter of your writing. Talk through the specifics of sentence structure and paragraph organization. Discuss smaller themes within story and development.
Academic Editing
Reserved for academic and technical writing. Includes copy/line editing, but developmental editing focuses on the structure of the work as well as the logic and reasoning throughout the thesis and evidence.
Book Blurb and Tagline
Consultation and collaboration to create the perfect back of book blurb and tagline that will draw your readers into your world.
Work-For-Hire Writing Services
Articles, blog posts, website content, newsletters, and many more. Clients retain all rights to material created.
Research and Fact-Checking
Through the use of professional research tactics and databases, find information that supports your ideas and verify the veracity of each statement within works already written by the author.
